Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mobile Phone Review – A Smartphone With Larger Than Life Features

Sony Ericsson fans will be immensely pleased to learn about their latest creation, the Xperia X10. Equipped with a 1.6 Android operating system, an 8.1 megapixel camera, and a whopping 4 inch TFT 262K colour TFT touchscreen, it’s a phone that’s definitely worth a second look. However, dedicated users may note a flaw or two as well.

Appearance:

Available in sophisticated black or simple white, the outer casing may be rather large and a bit bulky at 135g, but its rubbery, curvy back fits nicely against the palm of the hand and makes it easy to grip while texting. Its enormous touchscreen is capacitive in nature, making it simple to tap out commands and messages. Unfortunately, it’s not as snappy as we would have liked—there are many instances where it acts noticeably sluggish despite its coveted 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.

Its 1.6 Android operating system isn’t the newest gem in the box, but this should be enough for most users who simply want an Android OS. Its two notable features include Timescape and Mediascape. One handles providing you with live tweets and Facebook updates while the other handles your music, videos, and photos. Both programs do an okay job at what they’re created for, though we noticed that they took a bit of work to get them to do what we wanted.

Sound:

The Xperia X10 has excellent sound quality, whether you’re taking a call or listening to music. It comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a media player, PlayNow, a Bluetooth Stereo A2DP, and a wealth of music tones and ringtones. Again, Mediascape makes organizing your playlists a blast. Also included are voice dialing options and a quality a speaker phone.

Camera:

Its 8.1 megapixel camera is where the phone truly shines. With 16 x digital zoom, a LED flash, an image stabiliser, touch focus, auto focus, geo tagging, and a second camera for video chats, this is guaranteed to provide you with quality photos and video clips. You also get features such as smile detection and face recognition to play with as well.

Internet Connectivity:

The Xperia X10 pulls out all the stops when it comes to helping you keep in touch online, with 3G HDSPA, HSUPA, Bluetooth A2DP, WLAN wi-fi, and more, with quadband technology on top of that. Texting is made easy thanks to its responsive screen, and its push email helps keep everything up to to date. Our only lament is that its Timescape program isn’t as polished as it could be.

Memory and Talk Time:

Sadly, the Xperia X10 doesn’t have a lot of storage at only 1GB, but you get an additional 8GB with a microSD card. With 10 hours of talk time and 425 hours of standby, the mobile has a surprisingly robust battery life for a device with an enormous screen, a Snapdragon processor, and a user interface that’s packed with animations.
Verdict:

While the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is a bit dated in some aspects, this shouldn’t come as an inconvenience for those who aren’t hardcore Android fans. That aside, its amazing camera, breathtaking touchscreen, great sound quality, and stellar internet connection makes this phone a must have.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is a bit expensive but with its good enough features, it’s actually a good trade for money. Consider to get affordable mobile phone deals as these could save you money in the long run.
